Join the gardening artist Paul Sisko, as he reviews the maintenance of our commonly used garden tools such as hand pruners, loppers, shears etc. Learn about various watering systems from basic hoses and nozzles, and an array of timing devices to make your watering life easier. Pruning and hedging tips will also be discussed.
Paul Sisko, a native New Yorker, has resided in New Jersey since he was 9. He was graduated from Montclair State College, (now the university) in 1964 with a degree in education and did graduate work at Pratt Institute. He taught industrial and fine arts at Paramus High School for 5 years prior to dedicating himself to the life and career as a fine artist.
The initial direction of his work emphasized the relation of metal to wood in unique hand crafted furniture resulting in “functional works of art”. He started experimenting with metal sculpture, collecting scraps from welding and metal working shops and found a faster market selling his sculpture which took less time than his highly crafted furniture.
As time went on, he received commissions for his furniture but his sculpture made up the bulk of his life’s work.
Gardening was instilled in Paul at an early age by his parents at their New Milford, New Jersey home. They did all the landscaping themselves and had the premier garden in their neighborhood.
Today, Paul’s gardens at his 3 1/2 acre property in Mahwah are visited by numerous garden clubs as well as the general public through the Garden Conservancy’s Open Day Program.
This Ho-Ho-Kus Garden Club event will take place at the usual location:
The Sycamore Community Church located at 32 Sycamore Ave., Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ, 07423
